Al Dente – the pasta timer for perfectly cooked pasta

Cooking pasta seems simple – until you forget to check the time or try a different type of pasta. Suddenly it turns out too soft or too hard. And of course, this always happens at the worst possible moment – like when guests are over. Al Dente, the singing pasta timer, puts an end to overcooked or undercooked pasta. Simply cook it along with your pasta and it will remind you exactly when it’s done. No more stress while cooking.

The singing pasta timer – meet Al Dente

Al Dente ensures your pasta is cooked perfectly every time. Just cook it together with your pasta, and it will play iconic melodies at exactly the right moment. This guarantees pasta that is perfectly al dente – not too soft, not too firm. With four different melodies, it covers the most common cooking times: 3 minutes, 7 minutes, 9 minutes, and 11 minutes. No more phone timers or constant taste-testing. Let Al Dente do the timing while you focus on the rest of your meal.

How the singing pasta timer works

Al Dente by Brainstream is as simple as it is clever. A built-in temperature sensor detects when the water reaches boiling point and automatically starts a timer for perfect pasta cooking times. It works with any pot – stainless steel or coated. Here’s how to cook perfect pasta:

  1. Add Al Dente together with your pasta to the pot. Important: pasta should only be added once the water is already boiling.
  2. Cook the pasta until the melody plays. Depending on the pasta type, different melodies signal the perfect al dente point.
  3. Once the melody sounds, drain your pasta using a colander. Rinse Al Dente with cold water to stop the process.
  4. Enjoy your perfectly cooked pasta.

Cooking pasta the Italian way – with Al Dente

Cooking pasta can quickly become a science. Different types require different cooking times, quantities matter, and fresh pasta behaves differently from dried pasta. Here’s a quick overview of common cooking times – and how Al Dente helps you get it right every time:

When is pasta done?

Pasta is considered done when it is al dente – firm to the bite. It should not be too soft or too hard.

Cooking times for different pasta types

3-minute pasta: Very thin pasta like capellini or fresh pasta cooks quickly. When you hear “That’s Amore” by Dean Martin, it’s ready.

7-minute pasta: Classic spaghetti reach perfection after about seven minutes. The signal is the theme from “The Godfather”.

9-minute pasta: Tagliatelle and other ribbon pasta need more time. The melody “Tarantella Napoletana” marks the perfect moment.

11-minute pasta: Thicker pasta like fusilli or filled pasta such as ravioli need the longest. You’ll hear the “Prisoners’ Chorus” when they’re ready.

Should pasta be rinsed?

Opinions differ. As a rule: rinse pasta briefly if it risks sticking together – for example, when used in salads. If served directly with sauce, rinsing is usually unnecessary.

Why cook pasta with Al Dente?

There are many reasons why Al Dente should not be missing from your kitchen:

Less stress while cooking

When pasta is just one part of a meal, things can get hectic. Meat, vegetables, and sauce all need attention. Al Dente takes the pressure off with its musical reminders.

No more guessing cooking times

Each pasta type has a different cooking time. Keeping track can feel like guesswork. Al Dente eliminates the uncertainty.

More fun in the kitchen

Cooking should be enjoyable. With its Italian melodies, Al Dente adds a fun and entertaining touch – and your pasta turns out perfectly every time.

Pasta or eggs? With Brainstream, you can cook both perfectly!

Al Dente follows a similar concept to our Beepegg, using music to signal perfect cooking results. While Al Dente is made for pasta, Beepegg helps you cook the perfect egg. It replaces traditional egg timers with melodies to match your taste – whether 80s music, rock music, or classical music. Enjoy a stress-free dinner with perfectly cooked pasta – and a relaxed breakfast with your family.
